Yahoo Mail is one of the world's biggest email services. Many people have decided to consolidate their email accounts or move them to one with their local Internet service provider. Some people with small businesses have even moved to a domain email address for more personalization and more security. Closing a Yahoo email account is relatively simple and can be completed easily.
Terminating your Yahoo Account
Visit the "How do I close my account?" page on Yahoo's site. Realize that your entire Yahoo account will be deleted, not simply email. Before you take any steps to actually shut down and delete your Yahoo email, you should be certain that you really want to do it, because the process is not reversible.
Log in to your Yahoo account, and go to the Yahoo mail site. At the top left of the email page is a Help link. Click that and it takes you to a three-column menu of all of your email options. Choose "How do I close my Yahoo! account?" under Top Questions in the center column of this menu.
Click the link in the article about closing your account titled "Account Termination" link. This takes you to a page where you have to re-enter your password and confirm that you wish to completely delete your account, including services like Flickr, Yahoo! HotJobs, Yahoo! Groups. You must delete separately any associated People Search account.
Review the process: log in to your account, back up any information that you have stored in any of your Yahoo accounts first, and then click the "Terminate my Account" button.
