How to Download Wordpad

By Tim Mammadov

WordPad is a built-in application with the Windows operating system. This word processing software is more advanced than the basic Notepad program, but doesn't have many of the features included with Microsoft Word: spell check, support for tables and graphs and a thesaurus, for example. In a nutshell, WordPad is good for writing simple letters and papers that don't require complicated formatting. If this application was deleted from your hard drive, you can download it from the web and reinstall it for free.

Things You'll Need

  • Internet connection

Step 1

Click the link provided in References, scroll down the web page and click the WordPad icon at the bottom.

Step 2

Click "Save" in the confirmation pop-up window, select a destination folder for the setup file on your computer and click "Save" again.

Step 3

Double-click the saved setup file. Click "Yes" to confirm execution.

Step 4

Follow the step-by-step instructions in the Installation Wizard to finish installing WordPad to your computer.

Tips & Warnings

  • If you have only accidentally deleted WordPad's shortcut icon from either the "Program Files" directory or your Desktop, go to the "Start" menu, click "Run," type "wordpad.exe" and hit "Enter." The application will launch and you won't have to download it from the web.
