How to Find People on Twitter From Facebook

By Anthony Bonesarelli

Facebook and Twitter are two of the Internet's most popular social networking websites. Because of the different benefits and functionality of each site, many users maintain a profile on both websites. In addition, both websites provide an accessible and visible space for users to list links to their profiles for other websites. Facebook users can also connect a Twitter account to automatically post their tweets on their Facebook profile, provided with a direct link to the tweet and the user's Twitter profile.

Step 1

Log in to your Facebook profile.

Step 2

Enter the name of the person whose Twitter you wish to locate into the search bar at the top of the Facebook window. If the person is not your Facebook friend, you may need to browse through additional search results to locate the profile or page.

Step 3

Click the "Info" tab in the left-hand menu on the profile. Scroll down until you see the "Website" tab. If the person has not listed a Twitter account in this field, click the "Wall" tab. Browse through the person's posts and look for the distinctive Twitter icon (a light blue bird) under a post. If you find a Twitter post on the Facebook page, look to the right of the post. The user's Twitter name will be listed, including the @ symbol.

Tips & Warnings

  • If the "Info" and "Wall" tabs are not visible, you may need to be that person's friend before you can see that information. Even if the person is your friend, these tabs can still be hidden.
  • If you cannot find the user's Twitter name on their Facebook page, try sending them a message. Many people make their Twitter accounts more publicly available than their Facebook pages.
  • You can also try searching the person's name in Google, but many users on Twitter use pseudonyms and aliases.
