How to Fix Lines on My Canon MP250

By Nick Miles

The Canon PIXMA MP250 is an all-in-one printer that is capable of printing, copying and scanning documents. The printer uses ink cartridges that contain black and color inks to print your documents. If your prints come out incomplete or with lines throughout them, then the ink cartridges may not be set up properly. You can troubleshoot your printer using Canon's maintenance tools.

Things You'll Need

  • Blank paper

Step 1

Insert a blank piece of paper into the print tray.

Step 2

Click the "Start" button on your computer and click "Control Panel."

Step 3

Click "Hardware and Sound" and click on the "Printers" icon.

Step 4

Right-click on the icon for the Canon MP240 printer and click "Properties."

Step 5

Click the "Maintenance" tab in the printer properties window click on the "Nozzle Check" icon.

Step 6

Click "Print Check Pattern" to print a test page.

Step 7

Compare your print test page to the examples shown in the pattern check window. If your test page has lines or is otherwise incomplete, click "Cleaning" to perform a nozzle clean.

Step 8

Click "OK" to confirm you wish to clean the nozzle.

Step 9

Click "Nozzle Check" again to print another test page to confirm that the problem has been fixed.

Tips & Warnings

  • If a standard cleaning does not fix the issue, click "Deep Cleansing" from the Maintenance tab to perform a more robust cleaning. This process will use considerably more ink than a standard clean, so only perform it if necessary.
