How to Install a Ricoh RC Gate
RC gates connect into a computer's network and manage other devices connected to the network. Administrators can use their Web browser to access the RC gate and remotely manage the devices on the network including all the printers and scanners that may require frequent driver and firmware updates. While an understanding of computer networking and administration is required to use the gate, Ricoh provides copious amounts of documentation for its RC gates which makes the setup and configuration process straightforward.
Tilt the device vertically and insert it into the supplied stand. Place the RC gate on a level and vibration-free surface with at least 1/2 inch of free space around all sides of the RC gate.
Plug the AC adapter into the wall and then plug the remaining end into the back of the RC gate. There are only three ports on the back of the RC gate. The AC adapter port is the only non-Ethernet port on the back of the device.
Connect an Ethernet cable from the network into the port on the back of the device labeled "LAN". Ensure the cable is connected to the port labeled "LAN" and not the identical port to the left labeled "PC". Additionally, ensure that the ferrite core supplied with the RC gate is attached to the Ethernet cable. The ferrite core simply snaps on around the cable.
Plug an Ethernet cable from a computer into the "PC" port on the back of the device. Open a Web browser and navigate to the following site: https://192.168.10.1:9443/index.html. Click "Yes" when prompted about a possible security alert and then confirm the network settings and press the "OK" button.
Click the option for the "Setup Wizard" that now appears and follow the onscreen directions to confirm the date, time and other basic device information. The guide will allow users to set a password as well as send an email to the system administrator with the details of the device just configured.
Remove the Ethernet cable from the "PC" port when the Setup Wizard has completed. The device can now be accessed via a Web browser using the login credentials created in the Setup Wizard.
