How to Install Binkw32.Dll

By Josh Baum

Binkw32.dll is a Windows Dynamic Link Library file associated with the Bink Media Player. Without this .dll file, the Bink Media Player may not function properly or be able to access all of the codecs it needs to play certain types of digital media. To install this .dll file, all you need to do is find and download a working version and place it in the system folder for your version of Windows.

Step 1

Launch your default Web browser and navigate to the download location for binkw32.dll. A link to this location can be found in the Resources section below.

Step 2

Click the download link and click the "Save File" button when prompted. Wait for the file to fully download.

Step 3

Double-click the downloaded .zip file to open it in Winzip or your default unzipping utility. Click the "Extract" button and select the desktop as the location to which the file should be extracted.

Step 4

Right-click the "Start" button in Windows and select "Explore" to open Windows Explorer. In the left panel of Explorer, navigate to the system folder. The exact location of this folder varies depending on your Windows version. If you're using a 32-bit version of Windows XP or Vista, it's "C:\Windows\System32." If you're using 64-bit Windows XP or Vista, it's "C:\WindowsSysWOW64." In Windows 2000 and NT, it's "C:\WINNT\System32." In Windows 95 and 98, it's "C:\Windows\System."

Step 5

Left-click on the system folder in the left panel to reveal all of its contents in the right panel, then click and drag the binkw32.dll file from the desktop into the right panel of Explorer. If Windows alerts you that the folder already contains a file by this name, replace the existing file with the new one.
