How to Install Rosetta Stone on USB

By Abby Vaun

When you purchase the Rosetta Stone software, you are purchasing a license allowing you to install and use the software. Because of this, you cannot sell the program and are only allowed to install it on two computers. Some users may need to install the program onto a USB drive. For instance, a netbook is not equipped with a CD or DVD drive and cannot use the installation CDs. The program can be installed onto a USB drive using another computer.

Step 1

Plug a blank USB drive into a USB port. Once your computer recognizes the external drive, it should open it automatically. If not, click "Start." Select "Computer" and double-click on the USB drive to open it.

Step 2

Insert the Rosetta Stone Language CD into the optical drive.

Step 3

Click "Start" and select "Computer." Double-click the CD drive to open the language CD folder.

Step 4

Drag the entire language CD folder to the USB folder and wait while the files are copied. There are four folders in the Rosetta Stone language folder: Documentation, Data, Speech and Languages.

Tips & Warnings

  • You need to have the Rosetta Stone Application installed on the computer with which you are trying to use the USB drive.
  • The application can be downloaded from the Rosetta Stone Support page onto a separate USB drive.
