How to Install the Google Search Bar

By Jason Artman

The Google Search Bar, also known as the Google Toolbar, is a browser add-on for Internet Explorer and Firefox. The Google Toolbar allows Google to be searched instantly using a permanent search box in the browser, translation of Web pages, and a feature called the "Sidewiki." The Sidewiki allows you to download commentary and reviews about each website that you visit. Install the Google Toolbar to enhance your Web browsing experience in Internet Explorer or Firefox.

Step 1

Visit the Google Toolbar website using the link in the "Resources" section of this article.

Step 2

Click "Install Google Toolbar."

Step 3

Read the terms and conditions, and if you agree to them, click "Accept and Download."

Step 4

Click "Run" when the file download window opens if you are running Internet Explorer. If you are running Firefox, wait for the add-on timer to expire, then click "Install Now." The Google Toolbar will be installed. Your browser will close and re-open, and the search bar will be visible at the top of the window.
