How to Inverse in Illustrator CS5
When you invert the colors in a drawing or photograph, you change the color to its opposite color, creating an effect much like a photographic negative. Light colors change and become darker and dark colors lighter. The inversion effect can be striking and is an easy way to recolor an object or change its look. Adobe Illustrator lets you invert all colors in all objects in your project, or invert individual colors from the Color window.
Open Illustrator. Open an existing document from the splash screen or create a new document.
Press "Ctrl" and "A" at the same time to select all objects in the project. Click "Edit," "Edit Colors," "Invert Colors" to invert all colors in the project.
Click an object in the project to select it. The border around the object becomes thick when selected. Click "Window," "Color."
Click the Color panel options drop-down menu and click "Invert" to invert the object's color.
Tips & Warnings
- You can also invert an individual color from the Edit Colors menu if you select only one object and click "Invert Colors."
