How to Invert a Computer Screen

By Cooper Temple

Inadvertent key stroke combinations, as well as computer viruses or downloads, can result in a distorted image on your monitor. Occasionally, you might find that viewing an image or presentation is difficult without rotating the screen. Regardless of the reason, you can invert your computer screen image by following some simple steps.

Things You'll Need

  • Possible administrative rights on your computer

Step 1

Click on the Windows "Start" button, then click on "Settings" and select "Control Panel."

Step 2

Click on the "Appearance and Themes" option on the "Control Panel" window.

Step 3

Click on the "Display" icon on the "Appearance and Themes" window.

Step 4

Click on the "Settings" tab on the "Display Properties" window.

Step 5

Click on the "Advanced" button on the "Settings" tab.

Step 6

Click on the "Driver" tab on the pop-up window. The name on the "Driver" tab will vary from monitor to monitor depending on the system, but it will be an independent tab.

Step 7

Step 8

Click on the "Display Settings" option to display the monitor options.

Step 9

Click in the "Enable Rotation" box to enable the manipulation of the screen image.

Click in one of the "Degrees" fields (0, 90, 180, 270) to invert or rotate the screen image.

Step 11

Click on the "Apply" button. The screen image will temporarily adjust based on the selected settings. It is important to note that the movement of the cursor will also change in line with the display setting adjustment.
