How to Load Subtitles in RealPlayer

By Andrew Meer

RealPlayer is a free downloadable media player that can play many movie file formats. However, certain subtitles file formats such as SRT, SUB and TXT will not work when playing AVI movies in RealPlayer. You can circumvent this problem by downloading and installing a plugin that has the ability to display subtitles properly in RealPlayer.

Step 1

Download and install the subtitle plugin for RealPlayer (see Resource section).

Step 2

Copy the subtitle file into the folder where the movie file resides. Right-click the subtitle file and select "Copy." Next, go to the location of the movie, right-click and select "Paste."

Step 3

Rename the subtitle file to match the name of the movie file. Right-click the subtitle file and select "Rename." After renaming, press "Enter."

Step 4

Open the movie. RealPlayer will automatically load and display subtitles with the movie.

Tips & Warnings

  • You must rename the subtitle file with the exact name of the movie file.
