How to Log into Router Login for Netgear

Router setup is a process that users often have to go through at least once when adding a new router to their network. If you are frequently adding new devices to your network, like printers, home servers and mobile devices or network-enabled TVs and Blu-ray players, you might change the router configuration often. You can connect to the built-in router setup manager in your Netgear router with a Web browser, login and change the network configuration.

Step 1

Open a browser window, type "" or "" in the address bar, then press "Enter."

Step 2

Type "admin" in the "User Name" text box. If you have not changed the default Netgear password, type "password" in the "Password" text box. Otherwise, type your personal password, then click "OK" or press "Enter."

Step 3

Click "Logout" to log out of the Netgear router manager after you have made changes and saved your configuration.

Tips & Warnings

  • Use a pin, paper clip or other pointed object to press the "Reset" button on the back of the router if you forget your password and must reset the router. The button is recessed and looks like a small hole. Hold the button for 10 seconds, then release. The password is reset to "password."
  • If you cannot log into the router with or, you can log in with the IP address. Possible IP addresses for your router are, or
  • Always change the default password when installing a new router to avoid having your Internet connection compromised or hijacked. To change the password, click "Set Password" in the "Maintenance" panel, type the old password, then enter the new password and enter it again to confirm. Click "Apply."
