How to Make a Larger Font in Notepad

Most computers come with a notepad found in the accessories. The notepad, a simple and straight forward word processor can be pulled up and used within a few seconds. Notepad unfortunately does not feature an obvious font toolbar, which makes changing the font size seem very difficult.

Things You'll Need

  • Notepad

Step 1

Move the cursor over the "Start" button on the bottom left-hand side of the desktop and click to open the Start menu.

Step 2

Click on "All Programs" at the bottom of the start menu. Scroll through the program titles and click on the Accessories folder. In the Accessories list find and click on "Notepad."

Step 3

Click on the format tab at the top of Notepad and then the "font" option to open the font options window.

Step 4

Select and click on a font size in the last column titled "Size." A sample of each font, style and size chosen will be displayed in the Sample window. Click the "OK" button to save your font size choice.

Tips & Warnings

  • Once you have opened the font options window, you may change the font itself, the style and the font size.
  • Highlight text in a document and open the font options window to make changes, Click "OK" to apply changes to the highlighted areas.
