Step

Boot up your computer and open your Web browser.

Step

Open Photoshop and create a new document. Make the document 750 px wide by at least 1000 px tall. You can make it taller if you'd like to create a scrolling webpage.

Step

Right-click on the CNN Headline News logo at the top of the HLN webpage and click "Save as." Drag that file into your Photoshop file, and resize it (using Edit -> Free Transform) until it is the same size as it is on the HLN webpage.

Step

Select the line tool in Photoshop and draw several horizontal lines in your Photoshop file, similar to the banners you see at the top of HLN.com.

Step

Select the paint bucket tool in Photoshop and color the areas between the lines. If you want to make the colors exact, click the color wheel, and hover your mouse over the color you want on the HLN webpage. If you click it, the color wheel in Photoshop should do its best to exactly approximate the particular shade of red, black, or white that you're attempting to replicate.

Step

Drag and drop whatever photos you'd like for your Headline News page from whatever folder you've saved them to into your Photoshop workspace. Make sure to resize them using "Edit -> Free Transform" until you're satisfied with the results.

Step

Select the text tool in Photoshop, and add text throughout your file. Use white, black, and blue text. All of the text on HLN.com is if the font Helvetica, and some of it is bold. Play around with different sizes and styles until the page looks right.

Step

Select the paintbrush tool, and set the pixel size to 5. Change the color to red, and add several red balls throughout your page in a style similar to the red bullet-points on HLN.com.

Step

Save your file as a TIFF or PDF file when you are finished.
