MPG compressed audio files are easily identified by their MP3 and MP4 extensions. The Movie Pictures Experts Group (MPEG) standardized and coded this type of file. Different software is available for playing MPGs. Here's how to effortlessly play an MPG file and hear the digital harmony on the musical web frequency of perfect pitch.

Video of the Day

Step

Right-click the MPG file.

Step

Select "Play with Windows Media Player." If Windows Media Player is not available, proceed to Step 3.

Step

Right-click on the MPG file and select "Open With" from the menu. Select one of the audio software programs listed. Typically, but not always, appropriate program options end with the word "Player" (e.g., "Nero Media Player", "RealPlayer", "Windows Media Player"). If no viable option is available, proceed to Step 4.

...

Right-click the MPG file, select "Open With" and then select "Choose Program." Click "Look for the appropriate program on the Web" and click "OK".

...

Click "Search the Web."

...

Select your desired MPG Player from the list of results.
