How to Reduce Font Size

A font is a combination of typeface and other qualities such as size, color, pitch and spacing. Popular fonts include Times New Roman, Verdana and Courier New. All are different in the height of characters, spacing and size. Many applications that support text allow you to select from different fonts and increase or reduce the size to fit your need. Adjusting the font size for Windows and Web browsers such as Internet Explorer and Mozilla Firefox is quick and simple process.

Reducing Font Size in Windows

Step 1

Right-click an empty spot on the desktop and click "Properties."

Step 2

Click the "Appearance" tab on the properties window.

Step 3

Select the font size you want in the "Font Size" window. If your fonts are currently set to extra large, select "Large" or "Normal." Click "OK" to save the changes.

Reducing Font Size in Internet Explorer

Step 1

Launch your Internet Explorer Web browser.

Step 2

Click "View" on the top menu. Scroll down and click "Font Size."

Step 3

Select the font size you want to use for your browser. You can choose from largest, large, medium, small, smaller and smallest.

Step 4

Restart your browser after making your selection.

Reducing Font Size in Mozilla Firefox

Step 1

Launch your Mozilla Firefox Web browser.

Step 2

Click the "View" button on the top menu. Scroll down and click "Text Size."

Step 3

Click "Decrease" and reduce the size of your browser fonts.
