How to Reinstall Gmail

By Tommy Charles

With Gmail Notifier, you can be informed when new mail arrives in your inbox without having Gmail open in your browser. If you have previously had Gmail Notifier installed to your system but were forced to uninstall it because of corruption or a computer virus, you can reinstall the program without any negative side effects. Gmail Notifier will install just as smoothly the second time as it did the first, and may even have new features if it is a more recent version.

Things You'll Need

  • Web browser
  • Internet connection

Step 1

Open your Web browser, type or copy "http://toolbar.google.com/gmail-helper/notifier_windows.html" into the address bar and press "Enter."

Step 2

Click the large gray "Download Gmail Notifier for Windows" button.

Step 3

Click the "Run" button when you are prompted by the "File Download" dialog box.

Step 4

Carefully read the license agreement and then click "I Agree." Click the "Next" button, and then click it again.

Step 5

Click "Install," and then click "Close" when prompted.

Tips & Warnings

  • The Gmail Notifier installer will overwrite any traces of previous installs.
  • The program will immediately open a prompt within which you can provide your Gmail user name and password after installation. In the event that this prompt does not open, you can access it by clicking "Start" and typing "Gmail" into the search box.
