How to Reinstall Webroot

By Jim Campbell

Webroot is anti-virus software that protects your computer from malicious hack attempts. It blocks malicious code from installing or running on your computer. If you have an active subscription and must reinstall the Webroot software, you first must regenerate the software keycode on the official Webroot website. This will allow you to reinstall the software directly from the company's website.

Step 1

Click the Windows "Start" button. Select "All Programs" and click the "Internet Explorer" shortcut to open your browser.

Step 2

Navigate to the Webroot "Request Software and Keycode" Web page (see Resources). Select your Webroot product from a drop-down menu, and enter your last name and email address. The last name and email address must be the same you originally used when you registered your Webroot software. If you need Webroot to email you the keycode and installation instructions, click to place a check mark in the box on the page. Click the "Get Software" button.

Step 3

Click the "Download" button in the Web page that opens. Click "Run" to execute the installation. Click "Yes" to confirm that you want to run the software.

Step 4

Enter the keycode Webroot emailed to you. Click "Next." Select "Typical (Recommended)" in the type of installation and click "Next." The software installs on your computer. Reboot the computer when the installation completes.
