How to Remove Just One Saved Password on the Internet Explorer Registry

By Kyle Anderson

When you save a password inside of Internet Explorer, the password is saved in the Autocomplete portion of the IE registry. If you want to remove a saved password, you can choose to clear the Autocomplete registry through IE, although this has the side effect of deleting all passwords from the browser. To delete just one password, you must use an alternate removal method.

Step 1

Open your Internet Explorer browser and navigate to the page where you saved the password that you now wish to remove.

Step 2

Click on the form that you have your saved password for. Press the down arrow key to bring up the username for the form that corresponds to the password you want to delete.

Step 3

Highlight the username by pressing on the down arrow key again and then press the "DEL" or "DELETE" button on your computer.

Step 4

Click on the "Yes" button in the "Autocomplete" window that appears to ask you if you are sure you want to delete the password. The password is now deleted from Internet Explorer.
