How to Remove the Winrar Virus

Winrar.exe might be a malware virus that could significantly slow down your computer and steal your private data. Many viruses are tagged with the name of a legitimate software, which is the case with Winrar.exe. WinRar is a legitimate archiving software that you can use to compress files. First check whether winrar.exe is really a virus. If it is, remove it from your computer using an anti-virus program.

Check Whether winrar.exe Is a Virus

Step 1

Close the WinRar application if it is open. If you don't have this application on your computer, proceed directly to Step 2.

Step 2

Press the Control, Shift and Escape keys on your computer at the same time. This action will bring up the Windows Task Manager.

Step 3

Click on the Processes Tab.

Step 4

Check if winrar.exe is there. If it is, you might have the virus.

Step 5

To make sure that you actually have the virus, open your antivirus software. If you do not have any antivirus software, check the Resources section for links to free antivirus downloads.

Step 6

Scan your system using the antivirus software. If winrar.exe is identified as a virus, proceed to deletion.
