How to Restore a Dell Inspiron 600M to Its Factory Settings
The Dell Inspiron 600M is a laptop computer that originally came with Windows XP. Most Dell laptops, including the Dell Inspiron 600M, come with a utility called the Dell PC Restore Partition. This is a partition on your hard drive that has recovery files and the Windows operating system. You can restore your Dell Inspiron 600M back to factory settings by booting your computer to this partition.
Restart your computer if it is currently turned on. If your computer is not on, turn it on.
Press and hold "CTRL" and "F11" when the Dell splash screen appears. This combination of keys allows you to boot the Dell PC Restore Utility.
Press the "TAB" button on your keyboard until you highlight "Restore." Press "Enter."
Press the "TAB" button again to highlight "Confirm" when presented with a warning message that all your data will be lost.
Wait for the "The system recovery process was successful" message to appear. This should take approximately 8 to 10 minutes. Press "TAB" to highlight "Finish" and then press "Enter." Your Dell Inspiron has been restored to factory settings.
