How to Retrieve a Sent Email on Hotmail

By Liz Jacobs

Hotmail is a free Internet-based email service. With it, you can check your email from anyplace with a working computer and Internet connection. Hotmail is an MSN application, owned by Microsoft. You can send an email through Hotmail in just a few seconds, but once you send the email, you may need to retrieve it later for several reasons. The recipient may have accidentally deleted the mail or you may need to refer back to the message so you can send follow-up mail.

Step 1

Go to your Hotmail account and sign in.

Step 2

Click the "Outbox" or "Sent Mail" link.

Step 3

Look in the folder to find the mail you want to retrieve.

Step 4

Click on the specific message to retrieve the mail. If you want to save the message, click "Save to Draft."

Tips & Warnings

  • To make sure your sent message gets saved to your sent mail folder, make sure that when you send an email you always check the box that says, "Copy Message to Sent Folder."
