How to Save in Rich Text Format (RTF)

Word processing programs can save files in many formats, including DOC, RTF and Plain Text. Rich Text Format, or RTF, is recognized by most word processors, including Microsoft Word, WordPad, Open Office and iWork Pages. If you need to share a document with people who may be using different word processors, RTF allows you to do so while preserving most, if not all, of the formatting you have done to the text.
