How to Set Up Windstream Email
Windstream Communications provides residential and business customers with Internet, landline phone and DISH Network services in several states around the United States. Windstream Communications' broadband Internet packages include a personal email account that users can set up through Outlook Express to make accessing and sending email easy.
Open Outlook Express and click on "Tools" at the top of the screen. Select "Accounts..." from the drop-down menu.
Click the "Add" button on the "Internet Accounts" screen that pops up and select "Mail..."
Type your name as you would like it to display on outgoing email messages in the "Display Name" field. Type your email address in the "E-mail Address" field, including the "@windstream.net" portion of your email address, omitting the quotation marks.
Select "POP3" from the drop-down box next to "My incoming mail server is a." Type in "pop.windstream.net" (without the quotation marks) in the "Incoming mail (POP3, IMAP or HTTP) server" box. Enter "smtp.windstream.net" (without the quotation marks) in the "Outgoing mail (SMTP) server" box.
Type your full email address in the "POP3 account name" field and enter your Windstream password in the password field.
Set up smtp authentication by clicking on "Tools" in Outlook Express and selecting "Accounts" from the drop-down menu.
Select your pop.windstream.net account under the "Mail" tab in the "Internet Accounts" pop-up box to highlight it. Click the "Properties" button.
Click the "Servers" tab in the "pop.windstream.net Properties" pop-up box and click the box next to "My server requires authentication" to place a check mark in the box. Click "Apply" and then "OK."
