Bonjour is a type of networking configuration software created by Apple, Inc. Though the software comes standard with many products that rely on its functionality, such as iTunes, the service can sometimes be turned off by anti-virus programs in an effort to protect your computer against malware. When this occurs, you receive an error message stating "Bonjour Application Failed to Start." However, this does not mean Bonjour is permanently removed or disabled. Turn on Apple Bonjour through your Windows Services applet to regain access to shared services on your local computer network.
Click the "Start" menu in the bottom left hand corner of your computer screen.
Type "MSCONFIG" in the search command line. Click "Continue" when prompted to grant Windows permission to access this applet.
Click the "Services" tab in the top menu panel. A list of all the services running on your Windows system will appear.

Check the box next to "Bonjour" to enable the service. Click "Apply" to save your settings, then "OK" to exit the Window. Your Bonjour service is now operating and can perform essential tasks such as finding the iTunes library of nearby computers and syncing an iPhone.
