HTML documents contain plain text and have the extension .html or .htm. You can underline text in your documents to place emphasis on wording. This guide will teach you how to underline text using HTML.

Step 1

Start your word processor or text editor that you will use to create your web page.

Step 2

Type in front of the text that you wish to underline.

Step 3

Type after the text you wish to underline. Your text should look like the example below.

This is your text

This is your text.

This is your text be underlined.

Step 4

Open a new web browser and display your new heading. Ensure that the underlined text meets your approval.

Step 5

Type in front of your text if you wish to use a line to strike out your text.

Step 6

Type after the text that you are striking out. Your text should look like this:

This is your strikeout text.

Display your page in your web browser.
