Once you assign a password to your HP computer's BIOS configuration utility, you will need to enter that password every time you attempt to access the BIOS. If you forget this password, don't fret -- there is still a way to unlock your BIOS without actually knowing the original user-defined password. This involves using a "backdoor" password, which is something that is installed onto your BIOS at the factory level that never changes.
Turn on your HP computer.
Press "F2" to load your HP BIOS access screen. A password prompt will load on your monitor.
Type "merlin" into the password field (with no quotes) and hit your "Enter" keyboard key to unlock your HP BIOS password.
