How to Use Redbox
While digital movie downloads have become popular (purchases surging 47 percent in 2013), Redbox provides DVD and video game rentals from an automated kiosk. Redbox has locations all over the U.S., and serves as an alternative to pay-per-view videos offered by cable, satellite and Internet downloads.
Finding a Kiosk
If you don’t know where to find a Redbox kiosk, you can [locate one online](http://www.redbox.com/locations), or through the mobile app. Many Redbox kiosks are found inside stores such as Walgreens, Kroger, CVS/Pharmacy, Walmart and other businesses. If you're searching on the Redbox website, or within the app, the search box will request a zip code. You can also select the “Near Me” tab, and the app or website will use the nearest location available. Once you arrive at the kiosk, you can use the touch-screen monitor to browse titles available from the machine, make your selection, swipe your credit card, then retrieve your discs from the machine.
The latest movies are available for rent on DVD or Blu-ray. To rent movies, you'll need a major credit card or debit card. You can choose from genres such as action, comedy, drama, family, horror, kids and more. DVD movie rentals are $1.50 per night, while Blu-ray discs are $2.Movies must be returned by 9 p.m., otherwise your credit card will be charged for an additional night. For your convenience, all discs can be returned to any Redbox kiosk -- not just the one you used to pick them up. To return a disc, press the **Return a DVD** button on the screen, then insert the disk (properly placed in its plastic case) into the slot on the machine when prompted. Discs must be inserted one at a time. The kiosk will alert you when your disc has been put away and it is ready to accept another one.
Redbox features games for the Xbox One, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, and the Nintendo Wii. The rentals have an initial 24-hour rental period, but you can keep them longer for a per-day fee. You can browse the kiosk when you arrive, search online, or via the Redbox mobile app. You’ll have an option to hold the game for pick up, which will reserve the title for you. Game genres include action adventure, family, fighting, music and party, shooter and sports. Games rent for $3 per night.
