How to Use the Camera on an Eee PC

The Asus Eee PC 1000HE netbook has a 1.3 megapixel built-in webcam that can be used to take a photo or video of the person who is sitting in front of it or for video conferencing. To use the webcam, you must adjust the desktop and set the operating system to recognize the webcam's resolution. You can calibrate your webcam by using utilities that are built into the operating system that is running on the Eee PC.

Step 1

Press the "Power" button to start up the Eee PC. Wait for the Windows desktop to appear on the screen.

Step 2

Right-click on the icon of the Eee PC's tray utility that is in the Toolbar at the lower-right of the display. Select "Enable Camera" from the pop-up menu to activate the camera.

Step 3

Navigate to the "Start" menu. Then select "All Applications," "Accessories," and "Windows Explorer."

Step 4

Right-click the "USB Video Device" tab in the left column of the window that appears. Select "Get pictures" from the pop-up menu. The "Scanner and Camera" wizard is displayed. Follow the online instructions to set the resolution of the images that the camera can photograph.

Step 5

Click the "Done" button when the installation is completed.

  • Your webcam will work most efficiently by plugging in your computer to an AC power source or by using a fully charged battery.
