How to View Google Calendar on a Desktop
Google Calendar provides a free, convenient way to keep track of events, responsibilities, work and school schedules and virtually everything else you need to organize. You can create a calendar online through your Google account and then access the calendar when you're surfing the Web or working offline on your desktop. In addition to manually editing events in your calendar, the Google Calendar syncs with other Google services, such as Gmail, and also allows you to send invites to and share calendars with other people.
Go to google.com/calendar and sign in with your Google account email address and password. Confirm your location and time zone in the "Get Started" box and click the "Continue" button.
Click on the particular date for an event you wish to input. Type a title for the event. Click the "Edit event details" option to input a description and location of the event. Set any reminders for the event that you want, such as email and pop-up reminders. Click the "Save" button at the bottom to add the event. Create secondary calendars, if desired, to separate functions such as personal and work obligations. Click the "Add" button under the My Calendars section to edit a secondary calendar's details, such as its name and description.
Click the "Offline" button in the top-right corner of the Google Calendar screen. Click the "Enable offline access" button. Select the "Allow" button to allow Google Calendar to access "Gears," an open-source Internet browser extension. Click the check boxes to have desktop, quick launch bar and Start Menu shortcuts created by the program. Click "OK" to finish updating your settings.
Select the green check mark icon menu in the upper right corner of the screen and click "Offline settings." Click the white check box under the "Available Offline" column for each secondary calendar for which you want to view offline on your desktop. Click "Save."
Close out of all other programs and applications you may have open. Click the Google Calendar icon on your desktop to open your calendar. Fit the calendar to fill the entire desktop screen by clicking the "maximize" button in the top right corner of the program.
