My Laptop Won't Keep Time

By Stephen Lilley

If the digital clock on your laptop computer's desktop won't keep up with accurate time, this means that your computer is not synced with the Internet. Once synced, your laptop computer's clock will constantly be monitored by a native Windows utility. If it ever begins to display an improper time, it will be synced to display the correct time from a Web server. This feature can be turned on by adjusting the clock settings from your desktop.

Step 1

Click the digital clock icon on your desktop.

Step 2

Click "Change Date and Time Settings."

Step 3

Click the "Internet Time" tab.

Step 4

Click the "Change Settings" button.

Step 5

Check the box next to "Synchronize with an Internet Time Server." Click "OK" to sync your computer's clock with the Internet.
