Saving Outlook Email Messages As HTML

By Matt Sherwood

Microsoft Outlook 98 or later versions allow you to save emails as HTML. HTML, which stands for HyperText Markup Language, is one of the most popular languages for developing Web pages. HTML allows you to further enhance email messages by embedding hyperlinks, displaying pop-up messages, adding videos and retaining other formatting such as fonts and colors.

Things You'll Need

  • Computer
  • Microsoft Outlook 98 or later
  • Internet connectivity
  • Email message

Step 1

Start Microsoft Outlook.

Step 2

Highlight the email you want to save by clicking the left mouse button once while hovering over the email.

Step 3

Go to the "File" menu and select "File Save As." This opens a new window.

Step 4

Browse to the folder where you want to save your email.

Step 5

Confirm the file name is supplied in the "File name" dialog. Typically the subject of the email is populated by default. If the file name is not populated or if you wish to change it, enter the file name in the "File name" dialog.
